Explora Rapa Nui:
Located 3,700 kilometers (2,237 miles) from the American continent, surrounded by the world’s most transparent waters, Rapa Nui is the cradle of an unusual and enigmatic culture which persists to this day. The language, music and many traditions remain alive amongst the island’s inhabitants, while the enormous carved stone moai tell of a more remote past.

The explorations offered on Rapa Nui use Posada de Mike Rapu as our base. The lodge is located on a hill in the Te Miro Oone area in the center of the island (27º09’ S and 109º 26’ W).

The lodge was the first in South America to obtain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the United States Green Building Council.

The lodge, which opened in December 2007, was built on 9.6 hectares (23.7 acres) of land situated on a hill in the Te Miro Oone area, overlooking the ocean. This is in south-eastern Rapa Nui, 8 kilometers (4.9 miles) from Hanga Roa, the most populated part of the island.

All of the 30 rooms, which extend to the north and south from a central building, have excellent ocean views. The lodge has welcoming indoor spaces which integrate aspects of the local culture.

The design is intended to have minimal impact on its surroundings. The lodge is built on a site which is inappropriate for agricultural use and has no archaeological remains. The flora surrounding the lodge has been maintained intact.
Rooms:
The lodge has 30 comfortable rooms, all of them designed to maximize silence and privacy. The sophisticated design uses pine wood and earth-colored concrete for the floor. Each room has a small living area, hydromassage bath and beds designed for deep, pleasurable sleep after a day of exploration. Finally, we provide you with a unique treat: the rooms are television-free.

For many centuries, this was the end of the known world. The subject of legends, a strange, far-flung land, home to gigantic beings with odd habits.

Traveling to Patagonia meant sailing across one of the world’s most perilous seas.

In ancient times, seafarers arrived here believing they had arrived at the gates of Terra Australis Incógnita, a legendary continent at the southernmost point of the globe.

Five hundred years later, Patagonia continues to be a wild, unknown land at the end of the world.

The lodge is located right at the heart of the extraordinary Torres del Paine National Park in central Patagonia. The varied and untouched landscapes of this area led UNESCO to declare it a biosphere reserve.

The lodge opened in 1993 on the banks of the Salto Chico waterfall. It affords an excellent view of the unique Paine Massif and two of the three impressive torres, or towers, which give the park its name.

The lodge has 50 rooms and a variety of inviting spaces. Situated on a 3-hectare (7.4-acre) site, the design borrows certain organic forms from the landscape itself, adapting to it with simple elegance. It was designed to create a dialogue with its environment, putting human beings in touch with the sublimity of their surroundings.

For travelers, the lodge provides the welcome surprise of comfort in a remote area; nonetheless, you are not isolated from nature, but placed “within” it.

Rooms:
The lodge has 50 comfortable rooms, all with captivating views, silence and privacy. The sophisticated design incorporates native lenga wood (nothofagus pumilio) and cypress brought from the Guaitecas Archipelago, while the floor is made of almond wood. Each room has a small living area, hydromassage bath and beds designed for deep, pleasurable sleep after a day of exploration. Finally, we provide you with a unique treat: the rooms are television-free.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Casa de Baños del Ona (Ona Bath House)
Located 100 meters (109 yards) from the lodge and reached by a sloping wooden walkway, this bath house has a heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna and four open-air jacuzzis, all with views of Lago Pehoé and Macizo del Paine. Here you can also enjoy different types of massage with essential oils, such as therapeutic, relaxing or energizing massage.

Estancia 2 de Enero (January 2 Ranch)
Patagonia is more than just pristine landscapes; it is home to the unique and legendary gaucho culture. You can drink “mate” tea with gauchos and watch them shear sheep, drive livestock, break in horses and carry out other typical ranching tasks on this 6,000-hectare (14,826-acre) estancia, which belongs to explora and is located 53 kilometers (33 miles) from the lodge.

Quincho (barbecue area)
Located at the entrance to the “2 de Enero” estancia, the quincho is the start point for some of our horseback rides. Here you can also enjoy some typical Patagonian cuisine: the preparation of barbecued lamb. Whilst the meat slowly cooks, you can share “mate” tea with the gauchos and listen to interesting stories about the area. It's worth the wait.

The first humans arrived in this area over 10,000 years ago, giving rise to what later became a rich culture concentrated in and around oases like the one at San Pedro.

Diverse and unusual forms of wildlife have found ways to develop in the midst of high volcanos, salt flats, lagoons and ravines.

The explorations offered in Atacama have as their base the Hotel de Larache located in the San Pedro de Atacama oasis (22º 55’ S and 68º 12’ W), an area of surprising natural and cultural wealth.

The lodge is located on a plain known as the Ayllu de Larache, once inhabited by an ancient Atacameño community. They have respected the original layout of the land and restored and maintained some of the buildings.

Opened in 1998, the lodge is situated on 17 hectares (42 acres) of grounds just a few minutes’ walk from the town of San Pedro de Atacama. In the area surrounding the lodge, we have maintained the ancient pathways and buildings which form a labyrinth that invites exploration.

There are 50 rooms housed in three long buildings, positioned to form a central square planted with large trees for ample shade. On the fourth side of the square is the building which houses the lodge’s public spaces. The views from the lodge’s broad terraces enable you to enjoy Atacama’s vast chain of volcanic mountains.
Rooms:
The lodge has 50 comfortable rooms, each designed to maximize silence and privacy. They are tastefully designed with wooden ceilings and floors made of stone and tiles. Each has a small living area, a hydromassage bath and beds designed for deep, pleasurable sleep after a day of exploration. Finally, we provide you with a unique treat: the rooms are television-free.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Swimming pool area
The lodge has an extensive patio area totaling 1,700 meters2 (18,298 feet2). Within this area are four interconnected, outdoor swimming pools, two of them heated by solar panels. In addition, we have saunas, steam baths, heated open-air jacuzzis and a self-service bar. This area has beautiful views. The deep silence is broken now and then by the songs of local birds.

“Turi Puri” massage room
About 200 meters (656 feet) from the lodge is a colonial adobe building which we have restored. After a tiring day of exploration or simply for the pleasure of it, you may come here and place yourself in the gifted hands of our experienced masseuse.

In “Turi Puri”, which in Kunza means “House of Water”, you can enjoy various types of massage with essential oils, such as therapeutic, relaxing or energizing. This is a peaceful place to restore your energy and awaken your senses.
Campo de Cúcuter
About 7 kilometers (4 miles) south of the lodge in the Ayllu de Cúcuter we have 7 hectares (17 acres) of land with chañar forest, alfalfa fields and a beautiful view of Licancabur volcano. On winter days, after a morning of exploration, we often lunch here so we can continue exploring in the afternoon.

Quincho (barbecue area)
Just 50 meters (164 feet) from the lodge building, we renovated an old adobe house and created a large central patio where on some nights we gather with guests to eat spit-roasted lamb and barbecued meat and fish.
Meanwhile, local artists perform music and dance which are typical of the area. You are welcome to join in, if you wish.

Shop
In the shop located in the lodge building you can purchase a variety of products, special clothing and gear for exploring, as well as books, handicrafts and jewelry.
