Puyango Paleontological and Protector Forest is located at the middle of the Puyango river basin, occupying 2,658 hectares shared by El Oro and Loja Provinces. “It was formed 300 million years ago when the inner sea of the big continental stratum (that will become America, Africa, and Europe later) dried.
Puyango Petrified Forest – Loja - Ecuador

 

At 07h00, meet and welcome at Hotel lobby, transfer to Catamayo County, Visit of the Natural bay window of Chiriculapo, visit of the Maristas Religious museum, transfer to Alamor, lunch, visit of the Puyango Petrified Forest (dry forest environment).   

Here we can see the largest collection of petrified wood; in addition, we can visit the site museum. If time permits, we can enjoy the swimming pools of Cochurco, a natural spring. Light snack. Transfer back to the city of Loja. Clients will be deliverd to hotels.

ITINERARY:
Day 01.- At 08h30 departure from Loja, Transfer to Catacocha, here we will have a small visit to observe the village that maintains traditional architecture, visit the natural Bay Window of Chiriculapio and the religious museum Hermanos Maristas.

Transfer to Celica, lunch, in the afternoon light climb to Pircas hill, departure to Alamor for Dinner and Accommodations.

Day 02. -  Right alter breakfast; we will transfer to the Petrified Forest of Puyango. Different walks on the trails to observe remains of tress and animal that remain petrified. Lunch, If weather permits, we can enjoy a short bath at the thermal Waters of Cochurco, before transfer back to Loja
